Handing over of Unguja Rural Water Supply Schemes.

On 17th September, 2014, four water schemes in Rural Unguja have handed over to the client, that is; Zanzibar Water Authority, which will operate and maintain all constructed facilities for sustainable future. Among these four schemes including; Matemwe water supply scheme; Nungwi water supply scheme; Machui water supply scheme; and Dunga-Tunguu water supply scheme.

The contractor, China Railway Company, constructed all four schemes ground water tanks, 9 production boreholes, and laid main pipelines in different volume of supply.

Despite the reported handing over, both contractor and the consultant (Hydroplan Ingenieur - Gesellschalt mbH) are still on site for one year period of defect liability (from 18th September 2014 up to 16th September 2015), to correct or modify all breakdown and faults on project facilities and services, as observed and notified by the client.

More than 17 villages will be benefited from four rural schemes in Unguja; including Nungwi, Kilindi, Kigunda, Fukuchani, Tazari, Kilimani, Bwereu, Kidoti, Mkwajuni, Matemwe, Kijini, Pwani Mchangani, machui, koani, kidimni, tunguu, jumbi, and neighboring areas.
