Water is our safety.

Mixing of clean water and sewage in the infrastructure of clean water in some streets of the Zanzibar Municipal is a great problem that affect our community, and emphasis should be taken in order to save this category and disease outbreak and infectious diseases such as cholera and intestines diarrhea appear to give a huge rift between the government and our families every day.

Access to clean water for a population of more than two hundred thousand of the Zanzibar Municipal is in serious threat of pollution caused by the combination of sewage due to the interference of the infrastructure itself, decaying infrastructure, therefore, use the wrong infrastructure that includes construction arbitrary foul urban planning (master plan).

If we are not careful on this matter we should expect great misfortune in the coming few days. Despite the fact that there are powers that have been given guarantees of presiding over this matter we must understand that this is the responsibility of each of us to make sure we are prepared in advance to deal with our environment for our benefit and our generations, for a better environment and safer constitute a major role is in the development of health and our society.

It is normal for some residents not paying importance when building appropriate infrastructure for water supply and waste which causes pervasive street sewage with not proper direction.

Similarly creating intimate lodging either on pipelines transporting clean water, and often these pipelines of fresh water is passed into the sewage drainage arising in our lodging. To do so is to risk our lives, it is happening in our society and we fail to prevent or rebuke while we understood that its effects, instead we direct our complaints to institutions such as ZAWA and Municipal, it is true, but for this we are all involved.

"Tusipoziba ufa tutajenga ukuta" is a famous saying that residents of the Zanzibar seems to have forgotten the real meaning of this statement, we continue to ignore what we have seen are small when we know that its impact is huge. We must now abandon and change the look and character of these extreme and prevent each other in making mistakes, so as to live a life without worry for all of us and to respect the environment in which we lives for our personal benefit and the community around us.

We must ask ourselves who is most affected when cholera disaster erupt if not us who live in this unhygienic environment due to the negligence of ourselves? These are not strange to us; we witnessed the missing burial of our relatives who die of these diseases. With regard to my personal, problem of cholera is larger than the AIDS epidemic, why not fear and take major steps to guard against it?

Quoting a resident of Mchangani Street in Urban District, Mr. Ibrahim Mahara that "Samples of water taken from one of the clean water pipes seemed to have stool bacteria." This shows that sewage coming out of homes and settle to the street is a big problem and sometimes mixed with fresh water due to the deterioration of infrastructure.

Here are many reasons that cause flourish to this problem in urban areas, deterioration of infrastructure is one, but the issue of local connection of water made by unskilled technician that illuminate every corner of the city, and it is a problem that society should look it more seriously. Since these unskilled technicians suffering on getting money for the enrichment of their lives simply and not otherwise.
